It wasn't bad... I finished one audiobook, listened to another and almost finished a third. I also read an ebook and almost finished another.

If you like wicked fairy tale retellings, then you are going to love Desperate Measures by Katee Robert. It's the first book in her new Wicked Villains series and it focuses on the villans of classic fairy tales. This one is about Jafar and Jasmine from Aladdin and it's so, so good! The second one, Learn My Lesson, staring Hades, Meg and Hercules, comes out in October and I cannot wait to read it!

I was very excited when I heard a movie adaptation of the Percy Jackson books was being made and then I saw the first movie and I was SO angry... How could they screw up so much with such good source material? I really liked the casting (although they should have picked younger actors to begin with) but the script was just awful! They changed so much of the story!

They did try to fix as much as they could with the second movie but, by then, it was too late. The damage was done! So, yeah, I would love to see a good adaptation of these books being made one day.

Cover reveal: Half-Truths by Claire Contreras

You’ve heard of these groups – the secretive ones that only the crème de la crème are invited into, the ones outsiders speculate about for centuries – I’m the second in my family invited to attend, but to them, I’m fresh meat. New blood. New money, too.

They think they’ll elbow past me, that I’m here for their amusement, for them to walk all over, they’ll find out soon enough that I’m not.

I may look like one of them, with my designer bags and clothes straight from the Parisian runways, but I’m not. I’m here for answers, to take revenge for blood spilled on their centuries-old Persian rugs.

I transferred here in search for answers about what happened to my older brother, who hightailed out of here, and my friend who seemingly disappeared into thin air. I certainly wasn’t here for the attention of the star hockey player, regardless of how much he willed my eyes his way. I wasn’t here for his scrutiny or his judgment or to read into his mysterious aura. I was here for the society, because only they held the answers I needed. That was, until I found out that in order to get those answers, I needed to go through him. He’s saying if I want in, I have to play by their rules, follow their lead.

It’s a game I’m willing to play.

I may be the second person I know of to be invited into their society, but I’ll be the first to make it out intact.

Já vamos quase a meio de Agosto, mas estive de férias e nunca é tarde para fazer balanços... Em Julho li Dare to Resist de Laura Kaye, The Art of Taming a Rake de Nicole Jordan, Os Bridgerton Felizes Para Sempre de Julia Quinn, Glutton for Pleasure de Alisha Rai, Good Guy de Kate Meader e Ligeiramente Indecente de Mary Balogh e ouvi quatro audio-livros, Look But Don't Touch de Cara Dee, Switch Bidder de Sara Ney, Between Us and Forever de Dylan Allen e The Objection de Winter Renshaw.

Publiquei dezanove opiniões e já estão praticamente em dia...

Goodreads recomenda 2019

Em Julho li Dare to Resist de Laura Kaye. É uma novela, pelo que se lê bastante rápido, mas não é por ter poucas páginas que não tem bastante desenvolvimento das personagens. Gostei muito.

Para Agosto tenho três opções, mas ainda não decidi qual vou escolher.

Kimberly Kincaid 2019 Reading Challenge

Para Julho o desafio era judge a book by its cover e eu escolhi Glutton for Pleasure de Alisha Rai, já que o comprei pela capa! Felizmente o conteúdo não desiludiu e gostei mesmo muito de o ler.

Em Agosto o tema é read a book from my (da Kimberly Kincaid) backlist! Tenho umas quantas opções, mas não sei ainda qual irei escolher...
