Desafio Monthly Key Word Reading 2014

Este foi um dos desafios que mais gozo me deu em 2013. Por isso mesmo, vou voltar a participar em 2014!

O Desafio Monthly Key Word Reading é organizado pelo blog Bookmark to Blog e consiste em ler um livro por mês cujo título inclua uma ou mais das palavras-chave para aquele mês.

Regras:
* O título pode ser uma variante de uma das palavras-chave.
*As palavras-chave podem ser adaptadas. Por exemplo se a palavra-chave é "família", o título pode conter as palavras "irmã" ou "mãe".

As palavras para cada mês são:
JAN - Anjo, Segredo, Relógio, Preto, Dia, Selvagem
FEV - Ela, Vida, Noite, Vermelho, Escuro, Ilha
MAR - Sempre, Dentro, Tempestade, Céu, Flor, Ficar

The Monthly Key Word Reading Challenge is organized by Bookmark to Blog and it consists of reading one book each month whose title includes one or more of the key words for that month.

Guidelines:
* The title you choose can be a variation on one of the key words. For example- your title could include the word 'snowing' or 'snowflake' even though the key word is 'snow.'
*Key words can be tweaked. For example- You could read "Cinder" or "Ashes" for the key word 'Fire' and that would be just fine. If the key word is 'family' then your title could include the word 'sister' or 'mother.'If the key word is 'food' then your title could include the word 'cake.'

Desafio TBR Pile 2014

Este desafio é muito semelhante ao Mount TBR, mas é mais flexível nos níveis. É organizado pelo blog Bookish e consiste em ler, em 2014, livros que tenham vindo parar às nossas estantes antes de 1 de Janeiro de 2014.

Os níveis são os seguintes:

1-10 - A Firm Handshake
11-20 - A Friendly Hug
21-30 - First Kiss
31-40 - Sweet Summer Fling
41-50 - Could this be love?
50+ - Married With Children

Vou escolher o nível A Friendly Hug, pois estou confiante que consigo ler, pelo menos, 15 livros da minha pilha TBR.

UPDATE: Uma vez que já atingi o nível A Friendly Hug, vou agora tentar chegar ao First Kiss (30 livros).

2º UPDATE: Tendo atingido o nível First Kiss, o meu próximo objectivo será o Sweet Summer Fling (40 livros).

3º UPDATE: E, uma vez que atingi o nível Sweet Summer Fling, vou agora tentar atingir o Could this be love? (50 livros).

This challenge is very similar to Mount TBR, but it's more flexible on its levels. It's organized by the Bookish blog and it consists of reading books that have made it to our shelves before January 1st 2014.

The levels are the following:

1-10 - A Firm Handshake
11-20 - A Friendly Hug
21-30 - First Kiss
31-40 - Sweet Summer Fling
41-50 - Could this be love?
50+ - Married With Children

I'm choosing A Friendly Hug because I'm confident I can read, at least, 15 books from my TBR pile.

UPDATE: Since I've already reached the A Friendly Hug level, I'm now going to attempt reaching First Kiss (30 books).

2nd UPDATE: Having reached First Kiss level, my next attempt is going to be Sweet Summer Fling (40 books).

3nd UPDATE: And, since I've reached Sweet Summer Fling level, I'm now attempting to reach Could this be love? (50 books).

Desafio Mount TBR 2014

Este ano este desafio está a correr-me muito bem e, até agora, já li 16 livros da minha pilha TBR (mais 4 do que me tinha proposto), pelo que vou voltar a participar em 2014.

O desafio é organizado pelo blog My Reader's Block e consiste em ler, em 2014, livros que tenham vindo parar às nossas estantes antes de 1 de Janeiro de 2014. Uma vez mais, escolho o nível mais básico Pike's Peak: 12 livros.

Como já referi, só contam livros possuídos antes de 1 de Janeiro de 2014, não sendo permitidas ARCs (Cópias de Leitura Avançada), nem livros da biblioteca, nem releituras. Os livros escolhidos podem ser utilizados noutros desafios e não há obrigatoriedade de fazer uma lista prévia, pelo que irei escolhendo ao longo do ano. Apesar da Bev permitir que ebooks contem para o desafio, não vou contar com eles.

I've done really good on this challenge this year again and, so far, I've read 15 books from my mount TBR (3 more than I had challenged myself to read). So I'm definitely participating again in 2014.

The challenge is organized by My Reader's Block and it consists of reading, in 2014, books that have made their way into our bookcases prior to January 1, 2014. Once again I'm signing up for the more basic level Pike's Peak: 12 books.

Like I said before, books must be owned prior to January 1, 2014. No ARCs, no library books and no rereads allowed. The books can crossover into other challenges and you don't have to pick what you want to read ahead of time so I'll just pick them throughout the year. Even though Bev allows us to count ebooks for the challenge, I'll only count paper books.

Desafio Vintage Mystery BINGO 2014

E cá está, o primeiro desafio de 2014! Este é o quarto ano em que participo neste desafio, se bem que este ano funcione em moldes diferentes.

O Desafio Vintage Mystery BINGO 2014 é organizado pelo blog My Reader's Block e este ano é suposto lermos livros que se encaixem em determinadas categorias por forma a preenchermos uma linha num cartão de bingo. Podemos escolher dois níveis: Silver (mistérios publicados entre 1960 e 1989) e Gold (mistérios publicados até 1959, inclusive).

Vou inscrever-me no nível Gold e proponho-me a completar uma linha, ou seja, ler 6 livros.

O cartão com as categorias é o seguinte:

Os livros escolhidos podem ser utilizados noutros desafios, e também não há obrigatoriedade de fazer uma lista prévia, pelo que irei escolhendo ao longo do ano.

Here it is, my first challenge for 2014! This is my forth year participating in this challenge, although this year it's slightly different.

The Vintage Mystery BINGO 2014 is organized by My Reader's Block and this year we're supposed to read books that fit categories so we can fill a line in a bingo card. We can pick between two levels: Silver (mysteries published between 1960 and 1989) and Gold (mysteries published before or during 1959).

I'm signing up for Gold level and I want to fill a line, meaning I plan on reading 6 books.

The books can crossover into other challenges and you don't have to pick what you want to read ahead of time so I'll just pick them throughout the year.

Balanço Mensal (Outubro 2013)

Como já devem ter reparado, o blog continua muito parado... Mas pronto, pelo menos as leituras vão andando a um bom ritmo, ainda que esteja a passar por uma fase em que me custa imenso escrever as minhas opiniões. Esperemos que seja apenas uma fase!

Em Outubro, voltei a ler 4 livros, três físicos e um e-book: Os Trabalhos de Hércules e Mrs. McGinty Está Morta ambos de Agatha Christie, Ensaio sobre a Cegueira de José Saramago e Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble de H.P. Mallory.

Quanto às aquisições, não comprei nenhum livro físico este mês, mas comprei uma colectânea na Amazon por 0,99$. Também recebi três ARC, mas não faço ideia de onde vieram porque o envelope não tinha remetente (quem quer que tenha sido que mos enviou, muito obrigada!). Os restantes foram requisitados no NetGalley (e sim, sou capaz de me ter entusiasmado...).
